HISTORY

You don't survive over 60 years without a great reputation and the TEM of today continues our company's proud history of outstanding workmanship, honesty, and integrity.

1940's

Our company’s roots trace back to the 1940s, when Alan Hole returned to the Waikato from World War II. Starting as a sole trader with just one truck, he initially worked for the Public Works Department.
By 1957, as the business grew, Alan Hole Limited was established. Over time, Alan expanded his operations to include three bulldozers.

1960's

When Alan retired in 1960, William Ensor acquired the company, which continued to operate under the name Alan Hole Ltd. until 1964, when it was renamed Tirau Earthmovers Ltd.

1970's

Tirau Earthmovers operated from Main Road, Tirau, until 1972, when the office moved to 18 High Street. A workshop was also maintained on Pitt Street, Putaruru, from 1972 to 1990.

1980's/1990's

In 1985, William's son Steve joined the business.
The company purchased the State Highway 1 site in Putaruru in 1990, consolidating operations into one location.
Since relocating to the State Highway 1 site, we have expanded our workshop, storage, and other facilities to meet growing demand.

2000's

In 2003, Steve stepped into the role of Managing Director, succeeding his retiring father, and has since guided the company with dedication and vision.
In 2007 Steve’s son Kieran joined the team, followed by James in 2009, Ray in 2010, Damian in 2011 and daughter Stacey in 2018. Each of them has embraced various roles within the business, contributing to its growth and success.
Karen, Steve’s sister, has also been an integral part of the team as Finance and Administration Manager since 2001.

PRESENT

Today, the family legacy continues, with more family members becoming part of our growing business.
Together, with all our staff, we foster a strong, family-orientated environment that drives the company forward.
